Baby Daytime Sleep Routines
My son is now 8 months old. Until 3 months old I fed him every 3 hours as he would wake up crying as hungry. Also he sometimes cried bcs of stomach pain (crying even when held and refusing to feed), need to burp or too cold. He had a dummy since birth, going to sleep only with it in. At 3 months I would continuously keep on giving dummy instead of 1AM feed and just fed him at the next feed at 4am. It worked. He stoped waking at 1am altogether. Then at 4 months I did the same for the 4am feed and just fed him at 7am. But he kept waking up. Then at 4 months when I could no longer keep on waking up to put the dummy in (at 4.30, 5, 5.15..), so I decided to put him to bed at night time without a dummy and let him cry it out. He cried for around 30 mins, I kept going in after 1 minute, 4 minutes, 8 minutes, 15 minutes but never picked him up.. At one point he just abruptly just stopped crying and fell asleep. The following night the same but the 3rd night he slept without a dummy throughout – so from around 10pm till around 7am and after being fed/changed slept again from 7.40 till around 10AM. I then moved the sleep by half hour and kept it the same since then: 9.30 wakes up, 10.30 milk/rice/banana/fruit porridge + 90ml milk, 12-2 sleep, 2.30 lunch fish/chicken+cereal+milk porridge + milk, then play, then 4.30-5.15 sleep, then play, 6pm porridge, play till 8pm. 8pm/8.15 bath + change into pyjamas, 9 pm 240ml bottle (from 6 months add 3 teaspoons baby cereal),9.20 asleep in cot (let him cry for 5-10 mins, he never cries longer). If at 9pm he doesnt finish the bottle, I wake him up at 10.30 (Dream Feed) and make him finish it.
He then wakes up at 6/7am, eats 120ml milk, nappy changed and sleeps till around 9.30am every day.
I am so happy wit the routine and that I sometimes let him cry for a short bit as he is such a content happy little baby. He cries hardly never during the day and sometimes just a few minutes when out into cot to sleep. But I read many babies cry for a few mins when put into the cot to let the energy out from playing beforehand, and like that they sleep better and it seems true.
This routine works for us all as my husband gets to see him after work and I get to sleep till 9.30 am.
I know most people follow 7-7 routine but 9.30-9.30 works wonders for me.
(Btw he always sleeps in the cot, even at day time, never rocked to sleep, never held to sleep or given any toys etc in the cot, never any music or vibrations to sleep, always in his sleeping bag)

From our experience, once toddlers establish a one nap a day routine, it is really useful to not let them sleep past 3pm. Codi, has lunch first at around 11:30pm and goes to sleep at 12:15 or 12:30pm and wakes around 2 to 2:30pm. When he wakes I give him water mixed with cold freshly
