Nipple is removed from mouth. HELP!?

Some babies are more sensitive than others, my son was and still is a very light sleeper while my daughter will sleep through anything. If you can, try feeding your bably lying down on the bed to reduce disruption. Sometimes they will wake 20 to 30 minutes after they go to sleep, and mine would often go back to sleep if I gave them a top up feed, and kept everything really quiet.

I would also wait to detach until they had dropped into a deep sleep. So don’t remove until the eyelid flicking REM movements stop.

With the soreness you might like to check with a health professional or your local breastfeeding group for advice on your attachment technique, she may not be taking enough nipple into her mouth. or this may happen as she gets sleepy. It is good for someone to see what is happening if you can arrange it. Try rubbing some milk onto them after each feed.

My son also became colicky after I needed some antibiotics and the discomfort of lying down or gas would often wake him up again, so check that there isn’t a pain or gas. I would prop up the foot of his bed to help. My son also ended up with food intolerances so reducing dairy helped us.

Best wishes with your baby and the breastfeeding, they are so gorgeous at this age. But the lack of sleep can be wearing, so try and rest as much as you can.
